Who We Are

Origins
Pinopela was established in 2013 in Manila, first performing under the Akapela Open banner before growing into an internationally recognized vocal collective. Full founding story pending approved details from the group.
Artistic Identity
As lead and backing vocalists, performers, arrangers, composers, producers, and musical directors, the collective unites under one voice to celebrate the artistry, versatility, and unmistakable sound of Filipino vocal music.
How the Collective Works
Members contribute across arranging, production, and musical direction alongside performance, allowing the lineup to adapt its sound to each stage, recording, or commission. Further detail on process pending group input.
Performance & Recording Experience
Members have worked across concert stages, recording studios, television, theatre, festivals, and live events throughout the Philippines and abroad.
International Recognition
Since 2013, Pinopela has represented the Philippines at national and international a cappella competitions, including championship titles in Singapore (2016) and Hong Kong (2017), and podium finishes in Moscow (2019, 2024).
Current Chapter
Today, the collective continues under a five-member lineup—JJ Pimpinio, Anthony Castillo, Zsaris Mendioro, Juliet Bahala, and Paolo Campos—carrying the group’s artistry into new performances, recordings, and collaborations.
